Angkor Wat is the majestic work of Suryavarman II (1113-c. 1150).
A moat and three galleries encircle the
five central |

shrines.The first gallery has square pillars on the outer side and a closed wall on the inner
side.The temple is supposed to be invulnerable |
|
and During the war which began in 1970, the inhabitants of Sieam Reap had taken refuge inside the
temple, causing much subsequent destruction. |
